Merry Christmas 2012
Merry Christmas! Levi enjoyed his first and I'm so happy it turned out to be a big hit for both kids. Izzy has been excited for weeks and as Christmas approached, she was barely able to contain her excitement. Everyday in December she asked us if it was the day Santa was coming.
It has been a stressful, difficult month in so many ways, so to have something so fun for them to look forward to this week was perfect.
I was off Christmas Eve and so it was nice to be home all together...and then Daddy got the stomach bug from Izzy. That stunk because he didn't get to eat anything and was pretty tired on his day off. But we managed to have a good time anyways. Aunt Cheree & Uncle Daniel came over with cousin Jack and Uncle Mark came too. I made several recipies from pinterest and we had a yummy mexican dinner. My favorite was this delicisous bean burrito bowl. We will definetly make that again soon!
We watched several old favorite Christmas movies (White Christmas, Miracle of 34th St, ELF, and Christmas cartoons) throughout the day and I was excited that Izzy got really into White Christmas. She wore about 11 outfits throughout the day (not too unusual for her) but it was funny to see her show up in swimsuits and dance along with the sisters from White Christmas. Then she'd wrap herself in a scarf if they did to copy them. She really does enjoy music and the holidays so that is a perfect movie for her. She is a very creative child with lots of imagination, that's for sure!
Robert read us all T'was the Night Before Christmas to us all in our jammies and the kids were tucked into bed to dream about presents and sugarplums. Mostly presents since I doubt they know what sugarplums are :)
My sister then made her famous adult hot chocolate (it is the bomb!) and we all sipped on that while watching/laughing at Duck Dynasty, our recent tv obsession. We don't get out much. Ha! We visisted for a bit while we got out several toys to place around the tree and stuff stockings. And that was our Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning, the kids actually slept in til 7 & 8, so we got started on breakfast while waiting for Izzy to wake up. We started leaving her door open at night (to be able to go potty independently) and I thought for sure she'd creep down at some point to see presents! Levi ate early and happily watched mommy & daddy cooking. When Izzy eventually woke up, it seemed like her stomach bug was back, we worried for a brief moment, but she pulled through and her excitement got her over not feeling great. Her eyes were huge when she saw all the dressup gifts and was very distracted with her high heels and crown for a bit.
Levi was definitely into opening all things wrapped, whether they were his or not. He was literally going around the living room, playing with wrapping paper, laughing and moving on to the next thing to laugh at the fun sounds he could come up with. He is such a goofy happy baby. You can't help but smile and laugh when you see his silly antics. He even helped Jack opened his gifts since Jack never got into opening his. Izzy and Levi were beyond blessed with gifts from family members this year, so much so that we noticed a big gift remaining for both of them behind the tree and they didn't even notice. We decided to save those for upcoming birthdays as they were plenty content.
Levi, who previously didn't have many male type-toys around, now has 11 cars/trucks all making noise and most lighting-up-as-they-go to play with now! Izzy has lots of princess, pony, craft, minnie mouse fingurines, and playdoh to play with and should be busy for weeks now.
We enjoyed a yummy breakfast with my all-time favorite, pinwheels and watched Home Alone after presents. A few calls to family and finishing up some monkey bread and we were all ready to crash!
While we missed being with many of our extended family, having a quiet day at home with the kids was also enjoyable. I am incredibly thankful for our sweet fun kids to love on and get to share these fun days with.
