Making our move
Yes, we are moving, no this isn't an April fool's joke...Many of our closest family and friends are now aware we have decided to leave Nashville and head south to Florida. This post is more of an explanation as to why we are moving to Florida...we have thought long and hard about, and it hasn't been an easy decision. The main reason we moved to Nashville was to be central to our families-Searcy where my parents are, Tallahassee where Roberts family is, and Ontario where the majority of my extended family lives. It was ok at first, but mostly things just havent worked out here...not to mention we have to TRAVEL a lot to see any family a few times a year.
We have been on the lookout for a job for Robert awhile now with no luck. Nashville doesn't seem to hold that for him. Unfortunately, short of moving thousands of miles farther (west coast or new england) from family, he won't neccesarily have a "dream job" anytime soon. So we have choosen to move to be closer to Robert's family. Logisticslly Arkansas doesnt recognize Roberts license without further schooling. Tallahassee is where just about Roberts' entire family lives. Hopefully a good job opportunity will present itself with time as we put down roots near family. In the meantime, I will continue as an RN in L&D, and stay on night shift awhile longer.
A big deciding factor in WHEN to go is because Izzy will start Kindergarten in the Fall. Hopefully moving this Summer will prevent her from having to switch schools several times like I did! (Nashville-Ontario-Kensett-Searcy) She will go to the same schools Robert attended and not have to be uprooted during her schoolyears.
Houses typically sell faster in the Spring - Our house selling pays off ALL my school loans, which is kind of a big deal for me-its why I have worked extra like crazy for close to 8 years...and I will have to do the same for another 8 if we dont pay these off now.
We are so excited about many aspects of our move: knowing we will be so close to family for the first time with kids; getting involved at Church again, rather just attending; as well as plugging into the community in general. It may seem silly, but we work opposite shifts and doing ANYthing extra like attend worship, excercise, hang out with friends, dates, kids' extracurricular activities, yard work, traveling together -you name it- well its impossible at times and often we just dont get to do the things we need to. Not to mention we sometimes are just barely able to spend time with each other. Week and weekend. Its not the way we want to keep living, so its definitely time to change things up!
House is partially packed & on the market, jobs are being applied for, and in June, you will find us in Florida! Just need our house to sell to make things go as smlothly as possible.
