Lock Family Reunion 2015

This year, my Mom's side of the family, the Lock's were able to enjoy the first week of August together. Not everyone was able to make it, but we still were so happy to see many of our family that live way up North!

My family drove overnight, 20 hours from Tallahassee, to my Aunt Bem's house in Welland On, Canada. They have 4 kids, 2 pets and were gracious enough to let us stay with them throughout the week. My kids love all of the Wirkky kids and that allowed for us to enjoy plenty of resting, visiting and several outings together too. My Mom & aunt Becky & uncle Malvin from TN came up on Saturday as well and they stayed just down the road with Nana. We of course started our daily Tim Hortons' runs and let the kids play at the park that first day.

We were able to enjoy worship at Tintern, followed by a brisk cool swim in the Welland Canal on Sunday.

On Monday, we went over to the Niagra, NY and enjoyed sightseeing at the American Falls. We did the Maid of the Mist and then walked up to see the Falls up close - and got pretty soaked in the process! The timing of the excursion and the intensity of the Falls seemed to intimidate the kids, but we all had a good time, none the less!

Tuesday we drove up to Orilla ON and were able to settle in at my Uncle Mike & Aunt Barb's lake "cottage". It's actually a lovely B&B which was very roomy and had a wonderful outdoor space for us all to visit while letting the kids run all over. It rained a bit that day, but that didn't stop the kids from jumping in the (freezing) lake!

Wednesday was a lazy day where we swam, paddled around in the canoe and played games. Aunt Barb prepared lots of yummy food for us to enjoy and we had a great time just being together chilling! That evening one of my cousins, Beverly decided to it was time to be baptized..

Raised to walk in newness of life!

We were so happy and proud of her for making this big commitment. At a family reunion 6 years ago, close to the day, her older sis, Rachel did the same thing at our family reunion in Kentucky. She was baptized in the hot tub while we were all present. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Thursday, no one seemed ready to leave the awesome lake cottage and we took our time saying our goodbyes. Since we had to drive through Toronto from Orilla, our family decided to make a stop at Toronto's' LEGOLAND. we had a lot of fun watching the kids go nuts over everything Lego here! Levi especially seemed to enjoy this adventure.

Friday ended up being rough on me and really everyone was sometime worn out. We decided to just stay put and let everyone do whatever they wanted - so the kids watched a lot of Netflix, played games and they stayed in the jammies all day too! I had a bad tension headache as a result of canoeing...Aunt Bem and Robert both tried to loosen the knots in my back, but I ended up seeing a massage therapist for some extra help with a that. Afterwards, the girls loaded up and went to get Pedicures. Izzy went too and got her nails painted like a big girl. That is a favorite for her, for sure!

Saturday was 14 hours on the road and we made it to Chattanooga to see my sister and her family. We overnighted with a late night up visiting then slept in Sunday. Cheree made us pancakes and the kids played as much as they could before we had to head home.

10 days of relaxing and being with family seemed to fly by. We really did have a great visit and time with everyone. We are so thankful for everyone being gracious and taking such good care of us. Can't wait until next time!
