First Bath

To give a newborn a bath is so hard for some reason- especially in February. So we've avoided doing too many baths, but Levi's poor head needs to be washed daily... After this first bath, we have only been giving his head a mini sponge bath and omitting the rest. It takes 2 people to do a sponge bath apparently - even when you have experience! We were glad he did pretty good during his first bath!

When I talk about his 'poor head' or his 'head injury' I'm referring to some birth injuries on the left back of his head...if you aren't squeamish, you can see it healing in this photo. Not perfect, but definitely improving. His jaundice is also improving! Go Levi!!

Surprisingly, he likes getting his head/hair washed. He also really enjoyed looking at himself in the mirror. He is precious.

With Izzy we LOVED having her in gowns and swaddled tight to sleep. She went to bed that way for 4 months (until we could no longer find gowns to fit and swaddle blankets big enough)...so that's all I'd prepared for Levi to wear. However, we hate putting anything over Levi's head, so we've had him in his 3 month pajama sleepers that button up & swaddled. Not our favorite, especially when it comes to middle-of-the-night diaper changes, but it's worth him being in less pain.

He doesn't mind too much when we doctor up his poor little head, but of course we have to be quick & leave it alone most of the time.

We are very pleased with how fast his head is healing. A big scab fell off today (gross, I know, but we were excited) that left new skin looking normal! Lifting up prayers of thanksgiving for that for sure!!

All clean, swaddled and ready for nighty-night!!

We look forward to getting out the baby tub and bathing him in that soon!

It amazes me how sweet and good babies smell (even if they dont get full baths frequently!) I am sure enjoying snuggling with him!
