Izzy's funny birthday cake habit

In Izzy's 3 years, she has experienced the fun of birthday parties quite a bit and is slightly obsessed with all things birthday - especially birthday cakes. I may have something to do with that. I like doing big, fun, over-the-top parties for her each year, that keep her on her toes with excitement any time anyone even mentions the word birthday! With kids, you may as well let them have fun while they celebrate their birthdays!
The funny thing is, she has always wanted to smash her face into the cakes, from her very first one. We were surprised the first time, and the second and then we realized, that is just how she likes to eat cake! She will probably be embarrassed many years from now when she reads this too! But to me, it is a funny family memory and another way Izzy shows her crazy, silly personality off!

She actually had 2 1st Birthday parties so both families could celebrate with her!
Her Second Birthday, she stuck her fingers in the Nemo cake right before we sang Happy Birthday. Nice. 
                                      
 Her Third Birthday, she also stuck her finger in the cake before we cut it!
If you look closely, she has icing on her cheeks before I even had a chance to slice the cake!
Here she is at 20 months eating a cupcake in the same way. 
         At various friends and family member birthday's she has opted to use her face instead of a fork.

Mothers usually stare politely and say something like, "Izzy here is your fork" or "Wow, what a mess" ... and other Fathers usually laugh and talk about how hilarious or awesome "that kid is"! Robert and me, well we just laugh, snap a picture and look for wipees to clean her face off when she is done. Izzy definitely marches to the beat of her own drum! Gotta love her!

So who's inviting us to their next birthday party? Izzy will be entertainment for sure!

Labor Day Weekend 2010

Another busy weekend has come and gone. It feels like we did so much with our family this weekend, but really we were all able to relax some and enjoy hanging out and playing with Izzy for the weekend. I'm thankful for the extra time with everyone. I just wish we had one more day off to do nothing now! Here are a few pictures to recap the weekend. Closer than ever

It was soooooo good to see my brother and sister. I'm glad they will get to see Izzy more too! There is so much to her personality and abilities, it is just too hard to describe her over the phone! Yesterday was a very cool day for me - I got to hang out with my brother, sister and brother in law too... hanging out might not sound like a big deal, but to us, it is exciting because for the first time in a long time - at least 7 years the 3 Voyles siblings all live in the same state. Not just that, but we are only 2 hours away from each other. We have been 10 hours apart for the last 4 years...which meant only visiting each other 3 or 4 times a year - 3 or 4 RUSHED visits is hectic and not enough time together for us. Now with Cheree and Daniel in Chattanooga and we're in Nashville (so is Mark), we're all going to be able to see each other much more often, allowing us days to just "hang out" like we used to. I literally called Cheree and Daniel on Thursday to ask so...
