Chopped!

Finally! Izzy's LONG, LONG, CURLY, MESSY hair is cut short & sassy for Summer!
I have been hesitant to cut it for a long time. I'm not entirely sure why. She has had many cuts acutally: she cut it herself last Fall, which made me incredibly sad;  I had cut it pretty short (accidently) when she was 2, and she has had many, many trims over the last 4 years too. Her hair just keeps growing though! She is sure blessed with some healthy hair.

The main reason Izzy we ended up cutting it is because her daddy and myself had such a ridiculously difficult time brushing to take care of. It usually looked like a bee-hive or a rat's nest half the time. Seriously. It was BAD.
When she let me take care of it (she felt brushing it was pure torture), it did have some good hair days where I just loved it. But honestly, it wasn't her.
Short hair suits her well. She's happy. I'm happy. It all worked out in the end. She looks a bit more grown up, but that just comes with a big girl haircut. All a part of growing up, I suppose.
Kinda makes me want to chop mine...We'll see what happens!

Labor Day Weekend 2010

Another busy weekend has come and gone. It feels like we did so much with our family this weekend, but really we were all able to relax some and enjoy hanging out and playing with Izzy for the weekend. I'm thankful for the extra time with everyone. I just wish we had one more day off to do nothing now! Here are a few pictures to recap the weekend. Grammy made homemade blueberry pancakes while Izzy and Grandpa supervised (and taste-tested) YUM!! I'm pretty sure she said Yum a lot this weekend! Closer than ever

It was soooooo good to see my brother and sister. I'm glad they will get to see Izzy more too! There is so much to her personality and abilities, it is just too hard to describe her over the phone! Yesterday was a very cool day for me - I got to hang out with my brother, sister and brother in law too... hanging out might not sound like a big deal, but to us, it is exciting because for the first time in a long time - at least 7 years the 3 Voyles siblings all live in the same state. Not just that, but we are only 2 hours away from each other. We have been 10 hours apart for the last 4 years...which meant only visiting each other 3 or 4 times a year - 3 or 4 RUSHED visits is hectic and not enough time together for us. Now with Cheree and Daniel in Chattanooga and we're in Nashville (so is Mark), we're all going to be able to see each other much more often, allowing us days to just "hang out" like we used to. I literally called Cheree and Daniel on Thursday to ask so...
