Under the weather
Unfortunatly, the inevetable happened - 1st cold for Izzy-bug. She came down with a runny nose last Tuesday, which had her waking up 4 times from 8pm -10pm. I gave her Benadryl, got the humidifier in her room, and she slept the rest of the night. Sadly though, our little girl only seemed to get worse as the week went on. We did lots more Benadryl, hot showers (just to sit & steam in with her), warm baths and forcing fluids. Each morning we were hopeful she was doing better because we never heard her at night, but each morning she was still so congested she could hardly breath or eat. One morning she could not nurse at all, so we sat in the bathroom while the shower steamed us both - my hair frizzed up and Izzy's hair curled up, but she could breathe easier and was able to eat again.
Throughtout the whole week, our little sick girl was able to keep up her busy pace and keep a big smile on her, which was a relief to us worried parents!
On Monday night, I was working, but when I called Robert (at 7am as I was getting off), he sounded exhausted and said she had woken up screaming every hour from 2AM on. Her nose would not stop running, she couldn't breath due to so much congestion, but mostly she just kept screaming. Thankfully, she never had a temp though.
A week later.... on Tuesday morning , she continued to cry, very hard every time she burped which miffed us completely! It about broke both our hearts because she just kept crying so much. We called the doctor Tuesday morning and was told we needed to bring her in. We found out that not only did she have the cold virus that was causing a lot of her symptoms, she also had an ear infection! Poor baby!! Not much you can do for a cold but fortunately they could give her antibiotics for her ears! She did a lot better that afternoon, but she is still not herself yet. Hopefully she is on the mend!
I am counting our blessings that she is almost 11 months old for this first sickness.
